Sunstar Group is aggressively promoting environmental activities not only at plants but in administrative offices as well. In daily operations, all employees are looking to conserve energy and materials such as paper. We want to develop this activity because of the way one person’s awareness can have a big effect. |

| Activities at the headquarters office started with the basics in line with ISO14001 certification that was acquired in April 2001, such as the reduction of electric power, paper and general combustible waste. Every year, we set numerical targets and record our progress. Many meetings are held to improve activities for the following year. |

Because the awareness of each individual employee is important towards environmental activities, headquarters and the Takatsuki Plant jointly divided production and administration into 12 blocks and each block was made responsible for electing their own leaders. These leaders have implemented specific activities that began with environmental education for employees. For example, efforts to reduce power consumption by appropriately controlling conditioning temperature, lessening the number of fluorescent lights and shutting off unnecessary lighting reduced office power consumption in 2004 by 20% of 2001 levels.
We prepared a handbook of the company's environmental philosophy, slogans and motto that employees can carry with them, with the idea of enhancing environmental awareness. These basic activities produce fruits; it seems clear and obvious that environmental awareness is penetrating the workforce and activities are becoming customary. Future goals are to strengthen environmental activities in our line of business such as the development of eco-friendly products. |

• Results of Activities (Office electricity consumption and cost trend)
From FY2001, electricity consumption at office has decreased every year Consumption in FY2006 was reduced by 40% from FY2000 (before activities) levels. A decrease was also seen with electricity bills, as a 47% reduction was achieved.
The main activities were to (1) turn off unnecessary loads (2) control air conditioning temperature (28 ºC in summer, 20 ºC in winter). (3)select low energy model at updating of equipments.

• Results of Activities (Office paper consumption and general combustible waste trend)
From FY2001, office paper consumption has decreased every year Consumption in FY2006 was reduced by 40% from FY2001 levels. The main activities were to (1) use the backside of paper (2) make 2-in-1, 4-in-1 and double-sided prints. General combustible waste also decreased by 57% in FY2006 compared to FY2001. The main activity was to separate wastes for recycling.
